Castello di Montegridolfo - Palazzo Viviani

Situated on the borders of the provinces of Romagna and Marché, just east of Tuscany and Umbria, the Castello di Montegridolfo lies among the green hills of the Valconca valley, which descends gradually to the Adriatic Sea, some 16 kilometres distant. Surrounded by beautiful gardens it commands a panoramic view over a countryside dotted with abandoned fortresses, towers, ancient churches and various historical sites.
Probably first built around the 13th Century, the Castello di Montegridolfo reopened its gate under the ancient Tower which stands above the entrance to the Borgo Antico (the ancient village) in 1994, after a period of complicated and painstaking restoration which lasted 6 years. In the Borgo Antico, the aristocratic Palazzo Viviani offers 8 individually styled rooms, all furnished with antiques, and wide lounges to be enjoyed in absolute freedom, such as “La Stanza del Grande Camino” (The Lounge with the Large Fireplace) or the Reading Room. In the splendid gardens of the Palazzo, apart from the swimming pool, guests find the Casa del Pittore (The Artist's House) offering a further 7 romantic rooms. Closeby is the Borgo Nuovo (the New Village), opened in 2003 and built with traditional materials and techniques, which offers a further 30 rooms and suites.
The elegant Ristoro restaurant in the Palazzo Viviani, part of the original wine cellars, offers haute cuisine dishes while at the elegant Agrumaia Restaurant guests can enjoy superb breakfasts and special dinners while overlooking the lawns and olive trees in the gardens of the Castello. And by the way - it is an ideal venue for weddings and receptions. Oven cooked specialities are offered both at the Grotta dei Gridolfi and at the Ritrovo del Vecchio Forno in the historic main square of the Borgo Antico. Also in the Borgo Antico guests can browse for interior furnishings in the Bottega Delle Mura or for locally produced foodstuffs in the Bottega Delle Vivande.

Farmhouses and Bed & Breakfast

Dai Mori

Welcome to the Dai Mori farmhouse, an ideal place to spend a pleasant time relaxing amid the natura and artistic splendours of Montefeltro, an area rich in history and cultural traditions, with many typical tastes and aromas.
The farm is situated in the heart of an unspoiled valley on the slopes of the Cesane, the famous wooded hills outside Urbino. There are several signposted itineraries for pleasant walks in harmonious natural surroundings and from the hills the views stretch as far as the sea, less than 30 km away. The nearest shop, bar, bank and post office are in Isola del Piano, a small charming Medieval village just 1 km from the farm.
The stone farmhouse has recently been restored, fully respecting the original features of the structure. Its special position makes it a very peaceful place in the ancient tradition of Marches rural areas. The farmhouse is surrounded by spacious grounds, equipped with benches, tables, hammocks and swings, while a centuries-old enormous oak in the middle of the garden provides cool shade for pleasant open-air lunches.
Guests can lodge in well-lit comfortable apartments. In addition to having all the charm of a Marches country house, with brick arches, wooden beams, terracotta floors and stone walls, the apartments are comfortable and functional, with fully-equipped kitchens,
heating, independent entrances, and a patio giving onto a large garden.
The farm was one of the first to begin using organic farming methods in Italy (1975); they mostly produce wheat and barley, but in the fruit orchard you will find a little of everything: apples, peaches, cherries and walnuts.
The small olive grove produces an excellent extra-virgin olive oil, cold-ground by stone; they also have a fine vineyard, yielding white grapes, used to make the well-known local white wine called Bianchello del Metauro.
They also make some excellent home-made liqueurs from woodland fruits: bramble, rosehip, absinthe and many other delicious fruits.
The owners usually invite guests to take part in gathering the grapes, olives, brambles and fruit in the countryside.
In addition to our own farm produce, guests can also buy organic food products (pasta, oil, tomatoes, honey, cheeses, etc) from renowned neighbouring producers (Alce Nero, Campo, etc.).
